Super Saturday BSA Training Update

Five of Draum's thralls went up for their BSA test at the Leicester Forest Rugby Club on Sat 9th May 2026.

All five passed: Beccy, Freya, Kaaleb, Adam & Tom. A clean swap, and Paul was complimentary about the standard, which is gratifying. All that focus on the BSA (especially since Christmas) has paid off. Now we can concentrate on the tricks and tactics of fighting on the field.

Big thanks to Paul Murphy who assessed them and also provided interesting and useful training for all.

Also, thanks to Ollie, Emily, Jack, Mick, Keven Sibson and me for attending to support the assessees? Testes? People taking the BSA.

I suspect if they have all have their kit ready for the end of May we will be promoting all our current BSA-passing Thralls to Fri-Hals - the axe-heads are in the post, apparently ...
The Rugby club was a good site - plenty of parking nearby, bar, toilets, lots of space to train in. I suspect we may use it again, while the Rugby is off-season and the weather is good at least.

It doesn't stop there, though - all those passing can now think about what specialist tests they want to do next. I suspect 1H Spear is going to be popular, as it's the gateway to 2H spear and is a strong weapon choice in its own right. I may even take it myself (if only you could see my pained expression - I haven't taken a test since 2001).

Also, we have at least one person already on the track to being our next BSA candidate, and we have a few potential members floating around too. So we'll be doing it again, one day.
